- In 2018, he was appointed county attorney, a role he held until his election as state court judge
- The locally elected presiding judge of the Emanuel County State Court in Georgia

- He studied at East Georgia College, then at the University of Georgia, earning his bachelor’s degree in 1983 and his law degree three years later
- McNeely is a product of Emanuel County, graduating from Swainsboro High School in 1979.
- handling misdemeanor cases, traffic violations, and certain civil matters
- Before becoming state court judge, McNeely held the role of a judge in the municipal courts of Adrian, Garfield, Swainsboro, and Twin City, Georgia
