### Professional career

- Superior Court Judge Richard Nunes is currently assigned to the Civil Division of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Essex County (Vicinage 5), as confirmed in a January 2026 court order
- Early Career — Before becoming chief judge, Nunes was an acting chief judge of Newark Municipal Court since 2008
- Newark Municipal Court Chief Judge — Judge Nunes held the role of the chief judge of Newark Municipal Court from February 2008 until his formal appointment in June 2011
- As a Civil Division judge, Nunes will preside over these cases and contribute to the administration of justice in the county
