- Judge, Missouri Court of Appeals, 1994-present
- Robert G. Dowd Jr. was Missouri’s longest‐serving sitting judge, serving on the Missouri Court of Appeals, Eastern District, for 41 years until his retirement on December 31, 2020
- He also held the role of chief judge of the Eastern District from July 1998 to June 1999
- Began his judicial career in 1978, shortly after earning his law license at age 27, when he was elected as a St. Louis city magistrate judge.
