### Professional career

- In 2024, Wilson announced he would seek re‐election for a sixth full term, facing Brooke County Prosecuting Attorney Joseph Barki III in the May 14 primary
- Ronald E. Wilson is a long‐time judge of the 1st Judicial Circuit in West Virginia, serving cases in Hancock, Brooke, and Ohio counties

- He was appointed to the bench in 1981 by Governor Jay Rockefeller and has been re‐elected to five eight‐year terms, with his 43rd year on the bench in 2024
- Frederick P. Stamp, Jr. Award for Judicial Excellence (2023)
- Judge of the Year by the West Virginia Association for Justice (2013)
- He has also served as a West Virginia Bar Association Fellow, chaired committees that revised judicial canons and updated the state’s Rules of Evidence
