## Biography

### Professional career

- Ronald B. Ramsey Sr. (1959–2025) was a pioneering African American judge, legislator, and public servant in Georgia, remembered for his justice reform work, community service, and lifelong dedication to fairness
- DeKalb County State Court Judge (appointed 2015), pioneering programs such as Deferred Sentencing, Court‐Supervised Community Service, and the “Angel Wings Initiative” for homeless students
- Georgia State Senator for the 43rd District (2007–2015), championing justice reform, bipartisan cooperation, and community initiatives
- First African American Municipal Court Judge in Stone Mountain, GA (2000–2006)

### Education

- While working at the National Labor Relations Board, Ramsey pursued law school at night, earning his J.D. from John Marshall Law School in 1992

### Additional information

- Judge Ramsey died September 25, 2025, at age 66.
