## Biography

### Professional career

- The Presiding Judge of the Passaic County Superior Court’s Family Division and Assignment Judge for Vicinage 11 in New Jersey, appointed in 2008 and reappointed in 2015
- Before joining the bench, Filko was an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey (2002–2008), rising to Deputy Chief of the Civil Division.
- Began his legal career in 1987 as a law clerk to Judge Amos C. Saunders, then practiced privately with Mizzone Law Firm
- Judge Filko serves in Vicinage 11 of the Passaic County Superior Court, covering the Paterson area
- Special roles: Juvenile drug court judge (2 years), Adult Recovery Court program lead (5 years)
