## Biography

### Professional career

- Chief Magistrate Judge of Burke County, Georgia, for 12 years, a position he held until his passing
- Following his death, Burke County’s Board of Elections announced that Superior Court Chief Judge Carl Brown would appoint a successor until the end of the year, with a special Democratic primary in August and a November general election to choose the next Chief Magistrate

### Education

- Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Paine College.

### Additional information

- First elected in 2016, defeating Republican Ronald O’Brien in the general election, and had run unopposed in the Democratic primary.
- He also served in the U.S. Army Reserve, being called to active duty during the Vietnam War in 1968–69
- He graduated from Waynesboro High and Industrial School in 1965
- Wimberly was born October 30, 1947, in Augusta, Georgia, to Milton Steed and Annie Mae Sims.
- As Chief Magistrate, he presided over the Burke County Magistrate Court
- handling local criminal and civil cases
