### Professional career

- In 2006, Judge Wellner was appointed to serve as an administrative law judge with the District of Columbia Office of Administrative Hearings
- Served in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of General Counsel, Air Division, between 1989 and 1990, and then returned to Kirkland & Ellis to focus on the practice of environmental law
- For ten years, Judge Wellner was Pro Bono Coordinator for the firm’s Washington office, promoting and facilitating pro bono opportunities for lawyers of all practice areas and levels of experience
