## Biography

### Professional career

- Joined the King County Superior Court bench on May 1, 2014, appointed by Governor Jay Inslee to replace the retired Judge Joan DuBuque
- Judge Tanya L. Thorp is an appointed judge of the King County Superior Court in Washington, serving in Department 27 as Juvenile Offender and Assistant Presiding Judge, with a background in child welfare and worker safety litigation

### Education

- a J.D. cum laude from Seattle University School of Law in 2002.
- B.A. in Political Science (minor in Society and Justice) from the University of Washington (1996–1999)

### Additional information

- Labor and Industries Division (from 2012) — handled worker safety cases, including in Washington’s oil refineries.
- She has also been active in the Loren Miller Bar Association, chairing the Young Lawyer Committee and Mentorship Committee, and has served on multiple court committees, including Family Law and Technology.
