### Professional career

- Judge for County Court at Law Number Two for two decades
- Before his judicial career, Johnson worked as a prosecutor for 16.5 years, serving as an Assistant District Attorney in Smith County, Texas, and later returning to his hometown to work under District Attorney John Kimbrough

- Following his retirement at the end of 2024, Judge Johnson planned to focus on personal pursuits, including traveling to visit family, golfing, attending concerts, and completing bucket list goals such as visiting all Major League ballparks and every courthouse in Texas
- Throughout his career, Judge Johnson navigated significant challenges, including six major hurricanes and the COVID-19 pandemic, maintaining court operations under difficult circumstances
- During his tenure, he oversaw the resolution of more than 20,000 criminal cases, along with thousands of civil, family, and juvenile cases, significantly reducing the court’s backlog
