### Professional career

- Judge of the Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit Superior Court in Georgia, serving from 2010 until his retirement on August 31, 2021
- Before joining the bench, he was a partner at Rumer-Gunby LLC in Columbus, Georgia, where he practiced family law for 35 years

- Appointed by former Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue in 2010 to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Hon.
- Justice Robert Benhan Award for Community Service (1998)

- Judge William C. Rumer before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, in a habeas corpus matter involving a Georgia prisoner
- He presided over cases in the six-county Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit, including over 50 jury trials, 41 of which were criminal cases.
- Although retired, Rumer has indicated interest in serving as a Senior Judge if appointed, which would allow him to continue hearing limited cases
- He also served on the Supreme Court of Georgia’s Investigative Panel of the Disciplinary Board of the State Bar and held leadership roles in the Columbus Bar Association (president), the Georgia Public Defender Standards Council, and the Georgia Legal Services Program
