The Eleventh Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance unanimously agrees by vote of 7-0, with two members absent and one vacancy on the Commission, that Judge Brian Louis Green MEETS PERFORMANCE STANDARDS .
Judge Green presides over civil, criminal, misdemeanor, traffic, and small claims cases in his courtroom. In reaching its conclusions this commission interviewed Judge Green, observed him in several types of court hearings, and reviewed his written work from the past two years. In addition, the commission carefully considered his evaluations from attorneys and community non-attorneys. His evaluations were overwhelmingly positive as to his judicial performance. Especially noted in the evaluations were his qualities of patience, communication, knowledge and application of the law, and judicial demeanor. Judge Green brings integrity, a strong work ethic, and a wise understanding of human nature to the bench. Further, Judge Green possesses exceptional organizational skills. Judge Green is committed to providing a just and respectful courtroom experience to all who appear in front of him.
Significantly, Judge Green scored high in every category considered by the community evaluators. These categories included case management, application and knowledge of law, communications, diligence, demeanor, and fairness. Importantly, both attorneys and non-attorneys evaluated and gave Judge Green the highest score possible regarding giving participants respect, opportunity to be heard, listening to participants, and providing written and non-written explanations for decisions. He was perfect or close to perfect in many metrics surveyed. When asked about Judge Green’s strengths, the responses on the anonymous survey were overwhelmingly positive, and again noted Judge Green’s fairness, efficiency, and demeanor. As it relates to any perceived weakness, there were few comments, and even the single negative review found that Judge Green was fair despite grievances against the system in general. The Commission finds Judge Green to be knowledgeable and competent in the areas of criminal law and procedures. Of the attorneys responding to the survey, 100% answered “yes, meets performance standards”, 0% answered “no, does not meet performance standards”, and 0% had no opinion regarding whether Judge Green meets or does not meet performance standards. Of non-attorneys responding to the survey, 100% answered, “yes, meets performance standards”, 0% answered “no, does not meet performance standards”, and 0% had no opinion regarding whether Judge Green meets or does not meet performance standards. A total of three attorneys and eleven non-attorneys responded to the judicial performance surveys expressing their opinion of Judge Green’s performance.
Judge Brian Green was appointed Park County Court Judge in 2007. Prior to that, he worked as a Deputy District Attorney with the 11th JD DA’s office, and as a research attorney for Lexis Nexis. He is a graduate of the University of Iowa Law School. Judge Green grew up in Penrose and Monument, CO. He enjoys hiking, cross-country skiing, photography, and travel.
