Linda L. Chavez

Linda L. Chavez was appointed as an immigration judge to begin hearing cases in February 2026. Judge Chavez earned a Bachelor of Science in 2005 from St. John's University and a Juris Doctor in 2008 from New York Law School. From 2019 to January 2026, she served as assistant chief counsel with the Office of the Principal Legal Advisor, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Department of Homeland Security, in the following locations: Pearsall, Texas (2025-2026); San Antonio, Texas (2022-2025); and Harlingen, Texas (2019-2022). From 2009 to 2018, she served in the U.S. Army Active Duty Judge Advocate General's Corps. She continues to serve in the U.S. Army Reserve and holds the rank of lieutenant colonel. Judge Chavez is a member of the State Bar of California and New Jersey State Bar.
