After meeting with Judge Miloud, reviewing her work over the past three years, and assessing feedback from attorneys and non-attorneys, the Commission unanimously determined that she meets judicial performance standards. Among her many accomplishments, she successfully managed a backlogged docket and brought it current. She accomplished this while maintaining an efficient and effective workflow. Judge Miloud is noted for her calm demeanor and good communication both in verbal interactions with court participants as well as in her written orders. She expresses understanding that parties that appear before her can be served best by having clarity and understanding of the process. To that end, Judge Miloud ensures that each party has ample time to ask questions and she provides proper instructions. Further, she maintains decorum in her courtroom. Judge Miloud is known for being well prepared. Her decisions are well-reasoned and she follows the law. She has plans to continue to develop her skills in civil law by attending conferences and courses as well as accessing the mentorship available in the district.
Judge Miloud has served three years on the bench after serving as a District Court Magistrate. Her docket consists of Criminal and Civil cases as well as Domestic Relations and some Probate cases. The Commission conducted a personal interview with Judge Miloud, reviewed opinions she authored, observed her in court, reviewed comments received from interested parties during the evaluation period, and reviewed survey responses from attorneys and non-attorneys who had experience with Judge Miloud.
Meegan Miloud is a Texas native. Judge Miloud enjoys reading, cooking, and playing tennis. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1998 and her juris doctorate from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law in 2001. Judge Miloud is a former District Court Magistrate in the 1st Judicial District where she presided over probate matters, domestic relations, and juvenile cases. She was formerly an Assistant District Attorney in Tarrant County, Texas and an Assistant District Attorney in Laramie County, Wyoming. Before taking the bench Judge Miloud was respondent parent counsel and Guardian ad Litem in cases of child welfare and adult mental health in the Denver metro area. Judge Miloud was Respondent Parent Counsel and a Guardian ad litem (GAL) for parents and guardians in Dependency and Neglect cases, counsel for Respondents in Mental Health, defense counsel and GAL for adult Respondents for Conservatorships and Guardianships and minors in Mental Health and Probate cases in the Denver metro area.
