Commission narrative
The Nineteenth Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance unanimously agrees by a vote of 8-0, with two commissioners absent, that Judge Michele Lynn Meyer MEETS PERFORMANCE STANDARDS .
Judge Meyer currently presides over a criminal docket in County Court in Weld County, Colorado. Her performance was evaluated using the following statutory criteria: integrity, legal knowledge, communication skills, judicial temperament, administrative performance, and service to the legal profession and the public. The Commission found that Judge Meyer generally excelled in each category. Judge Meyer has also demonstrated a willingness to adapt her approach as necessary for individual cases and to stay current with the legal landscape and docket needs. Her empathetic demeanor produces a courtroom where parties are truly heard and respected. Judge Meyer is also the presiding County Court Judge and dedicates significant time to training, mentoring, and supporting newer judges and colleagues.
The Commission’s conclusions are based on observing Judge Meyer in court, a personal interview, reviewing opinions she authored, and reviewing survey responses from attorneys and non-attorneys who had been involved in cases in her courtroom. Those survey responses in 2025 produced an overall score of 3.6 out of 4. Additionally, 100% of attorneys and 75% of non-attorneys responding to the survey stated that she meets performance standards. The 2026 Survey responses produced an overall score of 3.4 out of 4, which is higher than the state average. Additionally, 75% of attorneys and 90 of non-attorneys responding to the survey stated that she meets performance standards. These high marks are consistent with the independent evaluations of Commission members.
Judge Meyer was appointed to the County Court bench in September 2007. Prior to becoming a judge, she was a deputy district attorney with Weld County. Judge Meyer obtained her law degree from the University of Denver and has an undergraduate degree from Colorado State University. Finally, Judge Meyer works as a mentor to other judges in Weld County.
