Professional career
- Judge Walmsley was born in Durban, South Africa.
- He has also served by designation as a Judge in the Supreme Court of Georgia.
- In May, 2020, Judge Walmsley was appointed to preside over the trial of three men accused of murdering Ahmaud Arbery in Brunswick, Georgia.
- Judge Walmsley is also a regular guest speaker and lecturer having addressed numerous civic groups; high schools, colleges and law schools on a variety of law and related topics.
- He is actively involved in the Georgia Bar Association and the Council of Superior Court Judges.
- Judge Walmsley is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Hancock Day School and is a coach of the Sport Shooting team at Benedictine Military School.
- Prior to law school he worked as an environmental consultant with ICF Kaiser Engineers in Washington, D.C.
- Judge Walmsley received his J.D., with honors, along with a Certificate in Environmental Law from the Tulane University School of Law in 1996.
- Prior to joining the Superior Court he served as counsel to the Chatham County Board of Tax Assessors, part time Judge in the Magistrate Court of Chatham County and as a Partner in the Savannah office of Hunter, Maclean, Exley & Dunn, P.C.
- Walmsley was appointed to the Superior Court of the Eastern Judicial Circuit in February 2012 by Governor Nathan Deal and was elected to additional full four year terms in May 2014, 2018 and 2022.
